Voter Registration Training Class February 21 & March 1

  • On Zoom - Internet United States (map)

VOTER REGISTRATION TRAINING OFFERED THIS WINTER)

MENOMONIE, WI – Free voter registration trainings will be offered this winter by the League of Women Voters-Greater Chippewa Valley (LWV-GCV) and Chippewa Valley Votes. The information is geared for people who want to learn about the voter registration system in Wisconsin, in order to help guide others through the voter registration process. Topics include registration methods (by mail, in person, or on-line through MyVote.wi.gov), registration deadlines, eligibility requirements, and required documents.

In addition, participants will see how they can use MyVote.wi.gov to identify practical information for registered voters, such as who is their municipal clerk, where is their polling place, when is their next election date and what’s on their ballot, their voting activity history, and how to request an absentee ballot. The goal is for participants to feel comfortably knowledgeable in helping others register to vote and to know how to access expert resources.

“This is the training we offer to League members to prepare them for volunteering at our voter registration drives,” said Lori Miller, LWV-GVC member and voter registration trainer. “In this election year, we wanted to extend this information to other people or groups who help Wisconsinites register to vote.”

The free training will be offered on February 21 and repeated on March 1 from 6:30-8 pm on Zoom. Participants don’t need to be members of either LWV-GCV or Chippewa Valley Votes; the general public is welcome.

To register, visit the LWV-GCV website at https://www.lwv-gcv. Click on “Calendar” at the top of the screen, and then click on the event link posted on either February 21 or March 1. On the event page, click “Register” and then enter your name and email address (phone number is optional). The event’s Zoom link will be sent in a confirmation email.
