A "Berry" Big Deal: Library and Garden Club Host Duo of Wisconsin Cranberry Events
It’s time to celebrate the fruit that puts Wisconsin on the map! The L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library and the Eau Claire Garden Club are teaming up for a top-shelf educational experience on Saturday, March 7. This duo of free programs, titled “The Story of Wisconsin Cranberries,” will take attendees on a deep dive into the marshes to discover why these crimson gems are the pride of the Badger State.
Whether you’re a history buff or a home cook, these sessions are sure to satisfy. Both events will be held in the Riverview Room (Level 3).
The Story of Wisconsin Cranberries: From Marsh to Market
Saturday, March 7 | 10:30 a.m.–Noon | Ever wonder how Wisconsin became the global leader in cranberry production? Join multi-generational grower Jim Bible as he shares the inside scoop on life on an operating marsh. Jim will explore the seasonal growing process, the history of the industry in our state, and the vital role of the Wisconsin State Cranberry Growers Association. Attendees will also learn about Ocean Spray’s cooperative model and the sustainable practices ensuring the industry stays strong for generations to come.

Saturday, March 7 | 1–2:30 p.m. | If you think cranberries are just for Thanksgiving, you’re missing out. The afternoon session highlights why this fruit is a nutritional powerhouse. Backed by global studies, this talk covers the incredible health benefits of cranberries and offers creative, practical ways to bring them into your everyday kitchen. From preparation methods to "berry" tasty recipes, you'll leave ready to cook up a storm.
